About The Plant Chaser
Hello readers, welcome to my blog!!
I am Vanessa, the creator of The Plant Chaser blog. I am a Brazilian botanist ( plant biologist), home gardener, and health coach. I am thrilled to share my blog with you. I started writing years ago, and want to share the exciting things in the botany field with you and the beautiful places I have visited.
I hope to be helpful and teach you some exciting curiosities of what I have learned over the years.
When did botany truly begin in my life?
Before starting a bachelor's in biology, my dream was to study marine mammals focusing on whales and dolphins – more precisely. But life took me to another different path throughout my undergraduate studies in Biology. Studying botany subjects, I noticed greater ease and affinity with plants, unlike zoology or molecular biology subjects. The courses I liked most were botany and ecology. Over time, my love for plants grew, and everything I studied outside of university, whether in internships or scientific initiation, was related to plants or agronomy, more precisely, seeds and seedlings. So I thought: “I think my path is alongside theirs.” So, this was how my story with them began.

Field work in the Pantanal wetland, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil |
Later, I lived in Mato Grosso do Sul states, Brazil, where I visited the most beautiful wetland in the world—Pantanal! There, I graduated with a master’s degree in plant biology, where I researched and studied the plants and seeds of the Pantanal wetland. Then I moved to the USA to live for a few years, and recently I was doing a PhD in Botany in Austria.
